About Me
Dr Sue Flanagan has been involved in the practice of Medicine for over 40 years having graduated with an MBBS (Hons) from the University of New South Wales in 1980.
Her principle background clinically has been in non-invasive cardiac testing commencing in 1984.
In that time she has performed over 40,000 stress tests both exercise and pharmacological as well as reporting over 35,000 stress echocardiographs.
From 1984 to 2011 she was the medical director of Newcastle and Hunter Cardiac Services.
In 2002 she commissioned and accredited Pendlebury Clinic Private Hospital which specialised in cardiac invasive procedures and remained as the medical director until 2011.
In 2011 she joined a private radiology practice where she continues to perform cardiac stress tests.
Throughout her medical career, teaching has been a strong commitment and focus.
In 1984 she began, and still continues, to teach basic CPR to GPs, specialists, allied health professionals and the general public.
She has also trained many doctors in the interpretation and performance of cardiac stress testing including exercise, dobutamine, adenosine and persantin stress tests.
In 2012, in response to requests from her radiology colleagues, she expanded her anaphylaxis teaching from a module within her basic CPR course, into a separate course of its own.
This new course has allowed her to incorporate many of her own case studies and the frequently asked questions from her many in-person courses.
Sue also has 5 children and 4 grandchildren.

What people say
"Really excellent training. Clear and comprehensive discussion of patho-physiologic pathways leading to anaphylaxis ensures thorough understanding of what signs and symptoms, although possibly deceptively mild, require urgent response. This is reinforced by an excellent tick-box chart that takes the stress out of management decisions, in turn speeding up treatment and improving patient outcomes.Ā The course and the accompanying charts (to be kept with resus trolley) completely take the stress from management decisions and indicate a clear action pathway in what is otherwise a highly stressful situation. The stress of whether and when to act, particularly in a private radiology setting, is removed.
Following the explanations behind the clear management principles allows for understanding of various patient presentations and appropriate adaptions of treatment as required"Radiologist, NSWĀ
