Understand how to diagnose and effectively manage patients with anaphylaxis
This comprehensive course provides healthcare professionals with an in-depth understanding of anaphylaxis. The course consists of a 5-module PowerPoint presentation with narration, along with supporting resources including an Anaphylaxis Management Form and an additional recording form.
The modules cover the foundations of anaphylaxis, including the current guidelines, triggers, and mediation processes. The course then delves into the pathophysiology, exploring the mediators of inflammation and the four pathological processes that result in the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis.
Participants will learn how to apply this knowledge to the diagnosis of anaphylaxis, differentiating it from simple allergic reactions and other differential diagnoses. The management of anaphylaxis is also thoroughly covered, including the 7-step process, necessary equipment, and special case considerations for children, pregnant patients, and cardiac arrests.
The course culminates in a series of case studies that allow healthcare professionals to explore various aspects of anaphylaxis management and its differential diagnoses, including both anaphylactic and non-anaphylactic clinical scenarios. This comprehensive program is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the advanced knowledge and skills required to effectively recognize, diagnose, and manage anaphylaxis in their clinical practice.
What do people say about our training?
"Really excellent training. Clear and comprehensive discussion of patho-physiologic pathways leading to anaphylaxis ensures thorough understanding of what signs and symptoms, although possibly deceptively mild, require urgent response. This is reinforced by an excellent tick-box chart that takes the stress out of management decisions, in turn speeding up treatment and improving patient outcomes. The course and the accompanying charts (to be kept with resus trolley) completely take the stress from management decisions and indicate a clear action pathway in what is otherwise a highly stressful situation. The stress of whether and when to act, particularly in a private radiology setting, is removed.
Following the explanations behind the clear management principles allows for understanding of various patient presentations and appropriate adaptions of treatment as required"Radiologist, NSW
"Highly recommend. It is comprehensive well presented in a relatable format to suit all levels. The patient scenarios allow positive reflection of course contents in an engaging narrative. Great work Dr Flanagan. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and can recommend to anyone wanting to build their knowledge and confidence"
